One of our own is shopping old Mustangs and could use some info about the SVO Mustang and help explaining it's Jalopness.
Shame about that "license plate."

Turbocharged Pinto 2.3L with forged internals. Manual transmission with RWD. It was light, but the turbos weren't the best things in the world.

It was the first 5 lug fox body, it was also fords first attempt at "V8 power with a smaller engine" concept. The SVO paved the way for a lot of updates on later fox bodies.
The 2.3 was also used in the thunderbird turbocoupe, some guys even go as far as retrofitting a DOHC volvo I4 head onto the engine.

I think this is something that needs to be done. After a quick search Mustang forums were saying they were probably too big for rhe Fox's. I'm thinking it should end up out back like a Clio Sport V6
